The Wind Rises is a well done animation with well written characters and vibrant visuals. While the film is slightly longer than it needs to be and the central characters seems relatively flawless in terms of characteristics, the film still remains a beautiful piece of filmmaking with strong supporting characters, historical connections, and powerful discussions on war, love, and culture. While The Wind Rises is a powerful film with deep themes about war and happiness, it still remains an enjoyable experience that manages to be thrilling and touching. Grade: B
