While it doesn’t compare to the sheer awfulness of The Legend of Hercules, Brett Ratner’s Hercules is a similarly shallow, generic, and predictable action film that features a premise so bland that not even its intriguing action sequences make the film bearable. Dwayne Johnson clearly makes an effort to add humanity to the title character, but the goofiness of the characters and formulaic structure clash with the serious concepts being introduced. It doesn’t help that there are so many clichés introduced that the ending result is a bloated, dumb film with no emotional relevance or intriguing characters. The film ultimately fails to be something unique and eventually falls to be significant in the slightest. Grade: D+
